Revolutionizing Student Records Management
Serving K12, Institutions of Higher Learning, and Employers
At GreenLight, we envision a world where opportunities are accelerated and barriers to success are broken by disrupting markets to bring about a more equitable world by creating solutions with the use of new technology.
The GreenLight mission is to be a technology leader who empowers people by providing secure records that instill greater trust and transparency in a multitude of industries.
Rely on trusted, immutable and verifiable applicant, candidate, employee and student data.
All while improving employee and student experience and achieving regulatory compliance.
Why Blockchain?
GreenLight is a database of consensually shared and synchronized documents across multiple sites, institutions, or geographies, accessible by multiple people within the GreenLight Ecosystem. It allows transactions to have public "witnesses." The participant at each node of the network can access these uploaded documents shared across the network and own an identical copy. Any changes or additions to the ledger are reflected and copied “to all participants in seconds or minutes.
This distributed ledger stands in contrast to a centralized catalog, which is the type of ledger that most companies use. A centralized ledger is more prone to cyber-attacks and fraud, as it has a single point of failure.”
What is it?
A blockchain is a decentralized ledger of all transactions across a peer-to-peer network. Using this technology, participants can confirm transactions without a need for a central clearing authority. Through distributed ledger technology, GreenLight Credentials empowers individuals to own their credentials, deepening trust among high schools, colleges, and employers, and more while improving outcomes and unlocking value. GreenLight Credentials ensure transparency and compliance while reducing administrative overhead and regulatory burden.
Benefits of Blockchain:
Distributed Ledger
Multiple institutions can write student records into a single identity, enabling the creation of a student academic wallet and lifelong learning record. If an institution closes, permanently or temporarily, the student still has access to their records.
Trust
Records cannot be tampered with due to the immutable nature of blockchain.
Verifiable
Shared records can be instantly verified for authenticity.
Security
SHA-256 and other controls ensure world-class security that meets industry standards.
Marketplace
Students can connect with colleges and employers who trust their credentials are verified and authentic.
“There are too many young people in rural communities that lack the opportunity to get ahead educationally and economically. GreenLight accelerates proven strategies to bring game changing blockchain technologies to rural communities.”
— Sue McMillen, President and CEO, Greater Texas Foundation
“What is important to us is not so much the technology, but the solution that allows a student to have access to their entire academic and continuing education records, without having to constantly apply to get transcripts nor worry about the health of the issuing institution,” said DCCCD’s Chief Innovation Officer Tim Marshall. “Once issued, the student has lifetime ownership of their records.”
